For more than 126 years, Epworth Children's Home has grown and adapted to the individual needs of children and families by providing a safe and nurturing environment, evidence-based practices, and programs across the continuum of care and across the state of South Carolina.

Position Summary:

Serve as the primary facilitator for mutual self-help groups, run and facilitate parenting classes as well as provide wraparound services for the Institute of Child and Family Wellbeing. This includes marketing the group, parent recruitment, site management and leading the group until a peer leader emerges.

  • Serve as the facilitator for a nationally recognized self-help group. This includes marketing the group, parent recruitment, site management and leading the group until a peer leader emerges.
  • Build the Circle of Parents to be a statewide program as well as collect and analyze the data from the self-help groups.
  • Teach, lead and facilitate parenting classes for families of origin, kinship families and/or foster parents.
  • Develop an organized children's program for the Circle of Parents children to attend during the groups.
  • Assist in the intake and assessment of kinship families, may carry a small caseload.
  • Provide wraparound support services for the Institute of Child and Family Wellbeing.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling or other related field preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in human services required.

Bilingual in Spanish a plus!

  • Must have an understanding of children, adolescent and family treatment, as well as the ability to deliver evidence based practice with fidelity
  • Good written and oral communication skills required including public speaking. Must be able to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence, ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and the general public.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions.
  • Must be able to pass standard background checking, including: drug screen, employment physical, FBI check, SLED, DSS Central Registry, and Sex Offenders Registry.
  • Has a belief system and engages win faith practices that are compatible with those of the United Methodist Church.
