Marketing Director

Department: Marketing

FLSA Designation: Exempt

Reports To: Vice President of Development

PURPOSE

The Marketing Director will be accountable for overseeing and leading the marketing department. This position is responsible for development and implementation of marketing strategies to support pursuits and business development through collaboration with employees at all levels of the company, including business unit leaders and executives. The Marketing Director will also maintain and grow the “Client for Life” concept for existing and new customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are typical for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing marketing team, including talent acquisition, training, internal & external resource management, and performance and compensation management. Responsible for day-to-day direction and leadership to the marketing team, ensuring everyone is working toward common objectives.
  • Lead the marketing department’s strategic planning activities to support Business Unit and overall company initiatives. Act as a Business Partner to Business Unit Leaders and Pursuits Team to build marketing strategies based on the needs of each Business Unit as well as Baker Group as a whole.
  • Partner with Business Unit leadership in multiple office locations (Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, and Kansas City) to market to target strategic clients.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Collaborate with Project Management and Development Staff to implement effective lead generation programs.
  • Responsible for marketing department partnering with staff to create and complete RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, presentations, and pre-qualification statements, etc.
  • Contribute to the company’s strategic vision by offering creative marketing solutions.
  • Own and manage the client database.
  • Direct and implement Baker Group’s advertising and promotional activities.
  • Develop and maintain a cohesive Baker Group brand and brand narrative that resonates with our clients and potential clients.
  • Research and analyze marketing trends to plan campaigns strategically.
  • Market analysis and research as required to enhance our presence across all marketing channels.
  • Responsible for leading external marketing and communication content to support Business Unit and Company strategies.
  • Act as a Business Partner to Human Resources and other Internal Departments to develop and implement a strategy for effective internal communication initiatives.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in marketing within the architecture, engineering, construction or other related industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications business administration, or a related field
  • Excellent leadership/managerial and mentoring/teaching skills. Ability to grow and lead a team.
  • Ability to build relationships with Business Unit Leaders and Project leaders across multiple internal business units.
  • Knowledge of marketing platforms and implementation.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate marketing strategies across multiple office locations.
  • Capable to work well both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to adhere to strict deadlines and detailed requirements
  • Membership and active participation in professional organizations
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and relationship building skills.
  • Must be able to take direction from multiple individuals
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office as well as graphics programs
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
