Barfield is searching for a rockstar Payroll and Benefits Analyst reporting directly to the HR Manager. The Analyst will execute the activities related to the way Barfield fully compensates employees by ensuring all payments are accurate, timely and in compliance with government regulations. In addition, the position is responsible for the administration of all timekeeping, benefits, retirement and leave programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, 401(k) plan, FMLA, sick leave, vacation etc.

The position is expected to be onsite with occasional travel to our other facilities for training, meetings or conferences to represent Barfield.

Essential functions

Payroll

  • Review, verify and process multi-state bi-weekly, payroll accurately and on time.
  • Handle payroll updates, inquiries and record maintenance.
  • Address payroll inquiries deductions, garnishments and employee concerns.
  • Coordinate audits and ensure accurate data transfer to the general ledger.
  • Stay updated on payroll laws and best practices.
  • Collaborate with finance and hiring manager to determine salary ranges and compensation.
  • Compile data from reports and use analytics to advise HR and management on compensation issues related to evaluations and equity adjustments.

Benefits

  • Administer benefit programs and ensure data accuracy.
  • Serves as point of contact for managers and employees regarding all benefit programs.
  • Handles leave-of-absence request and disability recordkeeping.
  • Lead open enrollment and ensure timely benefit payments.
  • Process leave-of-absence request and manage disability recordkeeping, including FMLA.
  • Conduct data quality checks and assist with onboarding.
  • Reconcile and align benefits and data across different internal and external vendors.
  • Manage insurance reconciliation with insurance providers monthly.

Your background matches the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Computer Science, Human Resources or related field from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel), Teams, and HRIS software
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience with multi-state payroll and employment practices
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience with enterprise-level employee benefit administration
  • Extensive knowledge of compensation and benefit applicable laws.
  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
  • History of maintaining strict confidentiality and the highest level of integrity and trust
  • Strong history of quickly gaining credibility and partnering collaboratively with leader
