Essential Functions:

1. Implement the MMA strategic plan and academic goals, through the continual development and evaluation of curriculum, pedagogy and professional development.

2. In conjunction with the academic leadership team, monitor and evaluate best educational practice per the Program of Studies, Faculty Handbook and other educational materials.

3. Ensure that curriculum guidelines reflect both State and national standards and current pedagogical theories and practices.

4. Coordinate a holistic approach to curriculum objectives via Rubicon Atlas, Google Classroom and other resources,

5. In conjunction with Department Chairs, ensure cadet outcomes meet or exceed state averages and grade level expectations.

6. In collaboration with department chairs, evaluate summative and formative assessment across all subject areas, as part of data driven instruction.

7. Review department assessments and ensure proper placement of students in department courses/levels.

8. In liaison with the College and Career Guidance Counselor, synthesize MAP, SAT, ACT, ASVAB results in order to fully deliver differentiated instruction for all cadets.

9. Assist with the coordination of Cadet Success Team (CST) meetings, comprising of teachers, administrators, and parents, for cadets who are experiencing difficulty academically, socially, and/or behaviorally.

10. Serve as a primary liaison between the parent and academy, when directed by the Academic Dean.

11. Conduct a yearly academic audit to review extent of program implementation and effectiveness.

12. Serve as a role model and coach to faculty to encourage their self-evaluation, professional development, and scholarship.

13. As part of the Academic Leadership Team, synthesize feedback and data regarding classroom observations and assessments to recommend departmental changes to curriculum, goals, policies, and processes.

14. Regularly assess the use of educational technology within the curriculum.

15. Make appropriate recommendations for changes to enhance teaching and learning.

16. Work with parents, faculty, and staff when academic concerns arise regarding cadets.

17. Lead and facilitate best practice on the Curriculum, Data and Instructional committees.

18. Assist in recruitment, hiring and training of new staff and faculty orientation.

19. As part of the Academic Leadership Team, conduct classroom observations and assessments, recommending goals and changes to be implemented where required.

20. Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Academic Officer.

Requirements:

Essential qualifications, skills and experience:

  1. Master’s degree required
  2. Certified/Licensed teacher
  3. 5+years prior experience in independent schools, with a strong background in curriculum and instruction
  4. Strong evidence of teaching all levels (7-12 grade), demonstrating a mastery of current pedagogy
  5. Outstanding leadership skills and supervising
  6. Exceptionally capable in both written and oral communication
  7. Excellent organizational and presentation skills
  8. Current practical knowledge and experience with educational technology
  9. Proven success at working collaboratively within environment with colleagues.
  10. Passionate about the chosen field of study.

Physical demands: While performing this job, the employee must be able to lift 25 pounds, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects and keyboards; reach with hands and arms (both), balance, stoop, and stand for at least two hours at a time. The employee must be able to climb multiple flights of stairs multiple times daily. The specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.

Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. Work is performed inside and outside in all types of weather conditions with slipping, tripping and bumping hazards.
