About the Role:

As a Preparedness SME supporting our Federal government client, you will be trusted to provide advice on preparedness, stakeholder communications, program and project management, and other client tasks. This role will provide critical subject matter expertise in emergency management/preparedness, resilience, stakeholder outreach and communications, and response to emergencies and disasters. The Preparedness SME will support tasks under the direction of the Program and Administrative Support Task Lead and/or Program Manager.

Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): 

  • Develop outreach strategies and promotional products focused on emergency and disaster preparedness for individuals, families, and communities.
  • Design and implement new preparedness programs, as well as update/enhance existing programs. 
  • Conduct stakeholder engagement and focus groups, writing reports, and developing presentation materials.
  • Support efforts to promote the client’s learning agenda and engage stakeholders to collect and share data to help answer learning agenda questions. 
  • Develop and update promotional packages and strategies, as well as promotional products (e.g., webinars, listening sessions, website updates, communications).
  • Provide administrative and program support
  • Collect and report on program metrics.
  • Support curriculum development.
  • Provide administrative and operational support to government executives and managers, as needed.

Location:

You will work as part of a dynamic team in metro-accessible Washington, DC. You may work remotely dependent on contract requirements.

Required Experience/Skills: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • 8+ years of recent and relevant experience in emergency management/preparedness, disaster response/recovery, or related fields
  • US citizenship and the ability to pass public trust clearance or suitability

Preferred Experience/Skills:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) or similar state-level certification
