Full-Time Mechanic - Central Indiana Farming Operation

Full time mechanic wanted for a large crop farming operation in Carroll County, Indiana. Applicants should be to able to service and repair semis, agriculture and construction equipment - including making major and minor engine repairs, and work on the electrical and exhaust systems to comply with pollution regulations. The ideal candidate is capable of working with limited supervision, once fully onboarded, while performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing mechanical issues, as well as repairing and replacing parts. Typical work weeks are right at 40 hours if not slightly more - opportunities for additional overtime are occasionally available.

Responsibilities:

• Running diagnostic tests on vehicles
• Analyzing diagnostic test results
• Repairing vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions and braking systems
• Checking vehicle lighting systems
• Test driving vehicles to gauge performance, condition and repair work
• Performing preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles
• Maintaining detailed service records
• Adhering to inspection procedures and checklists
• Maintaining parts and consumables inventory
• Ensuring the cleanliness of the shop

Applicants need:

• ASE Diesel Certification or equivalent
• Basic working knowledge and understanding of both 12v and 24v electrical systems
• Basic working knowledge and understanding of hydraulic systems including components and repairs
• Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools
• Ability to read and understand service and operations manuals
• Good organization skills
• To routinely/frequently lift up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds
• Valid drivers license
• Over age of 18

Farming experience, knowledge of farming operations or CDL license are a plus

Pay is $25 to $35 per hour depending upon experience and qualifications
