Job Description
Diesel Technician
Growing, stable and leader in the industry has an opportunity for a Diesel Technician. The ideal candidate will Perform diesel service work competently and efficiently on a variety of truck engines and configurations as directed. The Diesel Mechanic will be completely aware of all Heavy-Duty Truck systems and complete work on all the features including electrical hydraulics, pumps, hoses and other specialized equipment.
Responsibilities:
· Responsible for engine diagnostics and overhaul.
· Demonstrates equal facility with all types of diesel engines and manufactures.
· Work assigned includes DOT inspections & preventive maintenance programs.
· Work assigned includes electrical / hydraulic / drivetrain and other systems.
· Responsible for noting supply and use of parts and tools and updating Service Manager.
· Welding abilities for both ARC and MIG.
· Keep records of all work done on each vehicle per DOT requirements.
· Ability to repair / replace brakes, AC, transmissions, clutches, engine overhauls and preventative maintenance.
· Responsible for welding & hydraulic repairs on trailers.
· Responsible for truck safety & condition check each time truck comes to shop.
· Adjust, repair, or replace electrical or electronic component parts to correct defects and to ensure conformance to specifications.
· Ensure truck maintenance records are received by the office for record keepin
Requirements:
· Three (3) years’ experience working on heavy duty diesel trucks and trailers.
· Must be able to read and follow manuals (parts lists, work instructions, etc.)
· Technical or advanced degree, certificate or diploma in diesel engines, electronics, and/or related systems or equivalent amount of experience.
· ASE certification is highly desired.
· High School Diploma or GED
· Successfully demonstrated welding skills in non-standard situations and on varying materials
· Verifiable Vehicle Safety inspection experience.
· Commitment and desire to learn medium & heavy-duty truck repair trade.
· Basic diagnostic skills/experience with hydraulics, pumps, and other specialized equipment.
· Technical understanding & attention to detail a must.
· Welding Skills are required.
· Commercial Driver’s License Class A (Highly Desired)
