Maintenance Worker

Judge Rotenberg Center:

The JUDGE ROTENBERG CENTER (JRC) is a day and residential school located in Canton, Massachusetts licensed to serve ages five through adult. Since 1971, JRC has provided very effective education and treatment to both emotionally disturbed students with conduct, behavior, emotional, and/or psychiatric problems, as well as those with intellectual disabilities or on the autism spectrum.

Our specific goal is to provide each individual with the least intrusive most effective form of treatment to ensure his/her safety, the safety of others, and promote healthy growth and development. JRC is committed to providing the most effective educational program possible.

The Position:

The maintenance staff performs all repairs and construction throughout JRC’s school buildings and residences. This includes carpentry, plumbing, construction and upkeep. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor. It is a full-time (40 hours per week) position, paid on a non-exempt basis. The standard workday is typically 8:30AM through 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with some variation to provide on-site weekend coverage. On-call holidays, nights and weekends are required. Starting rate is $18.00. 

Educational/Work History Requirements:

-High School Diploma

-Acceptable combination of relevant maintenance education and experience

-1-3 years' work experience in an increasingly responsible maintenance position

-Exposure to several disciplines: i.e. carpentry, plumbing, painting

-Stamina and physical endurance for demanding business days

-Candidates should possess excellent problem solving, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
