ABRISA TECHNOLOGIES (www.abrisatechnologies.com) designs, manufactures, and distributes precision optical coating solutions and custom fabricated glass optical products via two divisions: Abrisa Industrial Glass, located in Santa Paula, CA and ZC&R Coatings for Optics located in Torrance, CA. Both companies are in the Los Angeles metropolitan area with 125,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing floor space and approximately 150 employees.

We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineer to join the team in Santa Paula, CA. We offer a competitive base salary $75,000-85,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package, including Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k, etc.

Purpose:

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer, working under general supervision, in a team-oriented environment, performs all tasks in area of responsibility in a timely and efficient manner to support the quality assurance system.  Ensures all aspects of the technical, contractual and regulatory requirements of delivered/finished articles.  Coordinates with program management positions to identify and implement actions necessary to develop, support, document, and validate process compliance, measurements and continuous improvements.

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer maintains quality control objectives and coordinates objectives with company procedures in cooperation with other managers to maximize results, minimize costs, and meet all outlined quality standards.  Promotes and organizes training activities related to quality and best practices.  Reviews all areas of operations when conducting analysis and recommendations for improvement.

Summary:

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer must have continuous improvement and root cause analysis skills.  They need to be knowledgeable in the area of applying Statistical Process Control (SPC) to manage and resolve quality issues.  They should be able to provide leadership and possess good interpersonal and communication skills. The Manufacturing Quality Engineer must have a proven record of accomplishment of managing all aspects of a quality system based on sound technical acumen.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:

1.                   Responsible for supporting and improving the company’s Quality Manual, Quality Policy, procedures and practices, in collaboration with other functional managers.

2.                   Responsible for the supporting and improving the company’s ISO Program including all internal and external audits and ensuring compliance.

3.                   Responsible for the adherence of the internal quality systems, working in tandem with other functional managers, to meet ISO compliance and any other outside regulatory certifying agency requirements.

4.                   Drives continuous improvements through effective management of internal quality initiatives.

5.                   Plays an active role on quality improvement teams within organization.

6.                   Develops, establishes, and enforces quality assurance standards and measures.

7.                   Reviews policies and procedures to identify general problem areas; develops and recommends solutions to correct problems identified.

8.                   Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility.

9.                   Applies statistical process control principles to manage and improve overall company quality.  Works closely with Production Management to drive continuous improvement.

10.                Works with Supply Chain and Sales to establish quality requirements from external suppliers and customers.

11.                Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.

12.                It is also necessary to ensure the quality satisfaction by collecting the feedback from clients.

13.                Responsible for the formulation of the testing procedures for quality checking.

14.                Develops and maintains training materials and conducts training sessions on quality assurance related systems

15.                Defines and supports flow down requirements of suppliers that rare required to support customer regulatory and technical requirements.

16.                Implements, plans and maintains required quality standards applicable to our processes, applications, and product.

17.                Manage regulatory compliance for a variety of regulatory requirements such as Conflict Minerals, RoHS, REACH, and ITAR.

18.                Product/process reporting (i.e., AS9102 FAIRs, PPAPs)

19.                RMA management. ERP Use. GD&T Familiarity

20.                Responding to customer SCARs using 8D methodology

21.                Maintain and improve the Quality System as defined in the Quality Manual and associated procedures and other documents, in compliance with ISO standards, to maintain formal ISO 9001 certification.

22.                Support engineering and sales members on specifications and interpretations of specs.

Responsibilities-Supervision and/or Leadership Exercised:  Responsible for the full range of leadership activities including recommendation, training, evaluation, and counseling.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

-                      Demonstrated knowledge and skills of Manufacturing Quality Engineering disciplines/principles

-                      English verbal and written is necessary. Spanish verbal and written is a plus.

-                      Ability to work with an ERP System and maintain transactional accuracy is required.

-                      Strong combination of business and technical knowledge base

-                      Analytical and strategic problem-solving skills

-                      Proven ability to execute effectively and achieve results

-                      Interpersonal and team building skills

-                      Knows standards like ISO, AS, ITAR,

-                      Experienced with Root Cause Analysis, Corrective Action, Preventive Action and Improvement Tools

-                      Must possess oral presentation skills, oral and written communication skills, group facilitation skills, conflict management skills and training skills

-                      Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)

-                      Should be Detail oriented

Minimum Qualifications (including Education):

•              4-year technical degree or equivalent preferred.  Informal technical education and very strong experience might be substituted for the degree requirement.

•              3-5 years’ Manufacturing Quality Engineering experience with the ISO 9001 Standard.

Physical Requirements:

Work Environment and other Conditions:  

   PPE requirements:  Steel-toed shoes and safety glasses required when in production floor as a minimum. Other PPE may be required depending on area and specific function needs.
