DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


At a minimum, tasks will include, but are not limited to:

• Serve as the rotating equipment subject matter expert

• Condition Monitoring for the Site’s Special Purpose Equipment and provide regular reports
• Preform vibration analysis on Continuous Monitored Equipment and resolve vibration issues
• Develop work plans for turnarounds and provide technical expertise during outages
• Preform regular equipment walkdowns and establish inspection checklists
• Develop and implement task lists and work procedures for maintenance technicians and operations to ensure reliable repair and operation of rotating equipment.
• Identify and solve specific equipment issues using data driven methodologies.
• Solve high priority reliability issues
• Provide technical support for PHA’s/HAZOPs.
• Providing justification and facilitating the purchase of major spare parts.
• Leading Management of Change process for rotating equipment centered changes and performing the technical review.
• Responding to breakdowns if additional technical expertise is needed
• Providing specifications; including clearances and torques values when needed
• Analyzing and communicating equipment drawing details
• Formal and informal training of mechanics
• Receiving feedback from mechanics to improve job plans, parts availability, and communicate reliability efforts needed
• Provide failure history and cost for reliability analysis
• Assistance in obtaining and training on specialized components or tools
• Develop and manage maintenance small projects; Expense or Capital
• Develop re-designs and improvements
• Assist in quality control for precision maintenance
• Manage vendor and manufacturer support for repairs and troubleshooting
• Regular communication and tracking of actions with vendors and manufacturers
• Shop surveillance of repairs and fabrications
• Identify and leverage best practices, codes and standards
• Facilitate knowledge sharing

• Inspect and verify work of maintenance technicians and contractors for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques and compliance with applicable standards and specifications
• Prepare written reports and communicate to management
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs.
• Follow company safety and health guidelines and other company policies.
• Ability to climb straight ladders.
• Some work may require heights in excess of 100 feet.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Physical requirements – bending, kneeling, lifting up to 50lbs.
• Confined space entry may be requested.
• Wearing a respirator when/where required to perform inspections/job duties.
• Industrial chemical plant environment.
• Noise levels may require hearing protection.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license. Always ensure HR has a copy of a current, valid license on file.
• All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Education


• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• ISO 18436-2 Vibration Category II certification in past


Experience and Skills

 

• Minimum of 10 years, experience in the Fertilizer, LNG, Refining, Petrochecmical or other chemical industry. With knowledge of PSM and MI program requirements.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience with compressors, steam turbines and reciprocating equipment
• Minimum of 4 Turnaround events leading rotating equipment rebuilds
• Knowledge of engineering codes/standards and best practices related to rotating machinery (API/ANSI, etc.).
• API 610, 614, 617, 612, 682, 686, 687, working knowledge.
• Experience working with operating processes, equipment, and materials of construction.
• Strong technical ability to effectively evaluate equipment performance, identify root cause to equipment failures or performance issues and recommend solutions to resolve problems.
• Experience with small project and failure analysis methods.
• Experience with rotating equipment repairs, understanding of clearances and tolerances on rotating equipment.
• Knowledge of machinery lubrication and tribology – ability to analyze sample results and recommend resolution when required.
• Analyzing vibration data and Bently Nevada experience is critical to this role.
• Enthusiastic and team oriented.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to gather and evaluate complex information.
• Ability to use personal computer software for word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
• Experience in SAP is a plus.
