About this job

This is a part-time Support Care Assistant position. This position pays 60% of the full time SCA pay. This position does earn partial sick leave and annual leave at approximately 2.30 hours per pay period. The holiday hours earned is approximately 4.00 hours per holiday. This position includes the option health, dental, vision and retirement benefits.

****The Permanent Part Time SCA position is subject to mandation for coverage to meet staffing levels.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

SUPPORT CARE ASSISTANTS

  1. Implements and carries out individual or group active treatment plans and assists in developing and teaching living skills related to self-help, education, recreation, socialization, etc., and escorts individuals as assigned.
  2. Assists with individual's grooming and hygiene programs. Performs grooming and hygiene including but not limited to feeding, bathing, shaving, cleaning after a toileting accident, wiping/washing after a bowel movement, dressing, hair combing, changing body positions to prevent skin break down, teeth brushing, etc. for the individuals supported.
  3. Responds to health care needs for individuals by observing, reporting changes in physical condition, behavior and emotional response. Supervise individual safety needs and maintain a safe and clean environment for individuals by keeping the area free from materials which could pose a hazard to them.
  4. Timely recording of progress notes, incident/injury reports, and daily chart completion as instructed.
  5. Knows Individualized Service Plans (ISPs), physically intervenes, redirects and carries out behavior support plans.
  6. Responds to internal and external disasters (such as fires, tornadoes, etc.) in order to protect individuals, staff and property.
  7. Works overtime and works on other shifts as directed in order to provide sufficient staff coverage.
  8. Successfully completes initial and continuing competency training in order that the facility can meet accreditation standards.
  1. Participates in training and implementation of Safety Care in order to minimize the risk of injury to individuals, staff, and the general public.
  2. Responds to and participates in CPR and the training of CPR when needed.
  3. Able to obtain and maintain First Aid certification.
  4. Obtain and attend annual training on Abuse/Neglect.
  5. Attends work according to facility policies in order to ensure adequate staff coverage.
  1. Possess and show proof of a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  2. Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  3. Able to perform physical requirements including, but not limited to: 1) frequent standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, or crouching; 2) regular walking, talking, hearing, reaching with hands and arms (including above head); and 3) occasional climbing of stairs or balancing.
