What You'll Do:

Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety for yourself and others to ensure all assigned plants have zero accidents and comply with all Vulcan policies and procedures.

Assist with Team Management. Direct and perform maintenance and repair activities along with assigned personnel. Assist with training, scheduling, and assigning tasks. Assist with assigning central maintenance mechanics based on needed repairs. Attend and hold weekly safety meetings.

Repair and Maintain Equipment. Pull and deliver parts for breakdowns and repair/rebuild projects. Assist with some repair planning of equipment. Ensure that all equipment is maintained in accordance with Vulcan Materials Company and Equipment Maintenance System guidelines. Oversee breakdown repairs and communicate with the manager, operations, and dispatch. Identify the cause of breakdowns and assist in scheduling and performing proper repairs to prevent future part/equipment failures. Perform plant inspections for possible mechanical issues and assist in scheduling repairs.

Collaborate. Take breakdown calls from Production Managers. Coordinate with the manager to assign maintenance mechanics per skill level and location to perform breakdown/equipment repairs. Review upcoming projects with the manager to ensure proper parts and equipment are ordered and the crew is in place. Oversee major rebuild/repair projects with the manager and keep the manager updated on potential issues. Identify and inform the manager of potential structural issues. These include those found during random plant inspections and repair/rebuild projects. Cover the manager's responsibility when they are on vacation.

Administrative. Acquire quotes and order required parts for breakdowns and project work. Schedule rental equipment including but not limited to cranes, man-lifts, forklifts, welders, and air compressors. Ensure proper repair part levels are maintained at central locations.

Maintain Records. Maintain equipment repair and maintenance records through the Equipment Maintenance System and other methods. Work with manager and supply personnel to update quantities and/or acquire needed parts/equipment. Perform plant inspections to ensure proper maintenance procedures are being performed. Work with the manager to update repair lists and schedule daily tasks for central mechanics, as time allows, when not involved in a breakdown or shutdown repairs.

Qualifications

Skills You'll Need:

Education. Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent.

Experience. Proficient in Vulcan Safety Standards. Ensure Vulcan personnel, as well as contractors, follow Company policies. Experienced with structural repairs as well as proper rigging and crane signaling.

Functional Knowledge. Proficient with work plans, hot work permits, task training forms, harness inspections, rigging inspections, and equipment pre-trip inspections. Ability to read and understand blueprints.

Flexibility. Remain "on-call" for early morning and evening breakdowns. Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to cover barrel duty as assigned. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
