Grain Originator

Primary Objectives of the Position:Responsible for actively originating/buying grain from producersWork with grain customers in assisting them with the development and implementation of their grain marketing plansUnderstands grain department policies, objectives, and strategies and assists in their implementationAids in grain procedures such as grain procurement, origination, and shipping & transportation.Work with customers and sales staff in developing and growing the core businesses of United Farmers Co-op along with grain commitments and servicesProvide customer service assistance in grain offices as neededCommunicates with patrons and employees in a manner that will create support and loyalty for United Farmers Cooperative Major Areas of AccountabilityGrain OriginationOriginates grain and is familiar with UFC's Grain Programs.Works with customers and grain team to develop and implement marketing programs for customers and potential customers.Provide assistance across company in handling grain contracts and programs.  Deals directly with producers and vendors in establishing markets.Help develop and coordinate training opportunities to enhance members trading practices.Communicates education opportunities for marketing to patrons.Grain MerchandisingCapable of establishing local grain prices and margins in coordination with the Grain Merchandising Manager.Capable of selling grain.Assists in all grain accounting pertaining to timely daily DPR's.Additional Areas of AccountabilityComplies with all laws and regulations that apply to the grain department and company.Attends and participates in grain staff meetings.Attends appropriate training sessions as part of programs of continuing education.Follows and enforces company safety program.Enforces company credit policy.Resolves customer complaints quickly and fairly in accordance with company policies.  Refers unusual situations to Director of Merchandising.Sets an example of personal integrity and ethical practice, which provides a desirable standard of conduct for all company personnel.Other duties as assigned. QualificationsEducation:    Post high school training at the college or vocational level desirable.Grain Marketing training preferred. Experience may be substituted for education. Experience:               3 to 5 years grain marketing experience desirable.Good people skills necessary.Strong verbal and writing skills necessary.Computer skills required.Ag background a plusMechanical ability helpful. Other:Must be in good physical condition capable of lifting, carrying, and pushing weights up to 50 pounds and have full use of both arms and legs and both hands.Must be able to climb stairs, reach above, below and at shoulder level, work on moving machinery, and work at unprotected heights with dust, fumes, or gas and in temperature extremes both inside and outside.Pre-employment drug testing required.Must attend all training sessions required by law.Must comply with all safety regulations and policies of the company. Please apply online by clicking APPLY TO THIS POSITION below.
