Job Description
The Catholic Priest contractor will be responsible for conducting religious services, administering sacraments, and providing pastoral care within the designated military installation. Duties include leading Mass, conducting sacraments such as reconciliation, baptisms, and weddings, participating in community events, and managing administrative tasks. The contractor will also collaborate with the Catholic community, coordinate with external organizations, and ensure compliance with all contractual requirements. This role does not encompass chaplain duties, and the contractor must refrain from using the title of "chaplain."
 

Contract Responsibilities:

  1. Religious Services Coordination:

    • Conduct all religious services including Sunday Mass, Sacrament of Reconciliation, Holy Day Masses/Special Services, Ash Wednesday Services, Christmas Services, Easter Services, Lent/Advent Penance Services, and Holy Triduum Services.
    • Ensure services are conducted within the designated time frame.
  2. Sacramental Duties:

    • Administer sacraments including reconciliation, baptisms, weddings, annulments, and Catholic counseling.
    • Provide Catholic services as requested by Active Duty members.
  3. Community Engagement:

    • Lead, plan, and participate in Catholic community fellowships, parish events, and Religious Education programs.
    • Serve as the installation’s Catholic Director of Religious Education.
  4. Administrative Tasks:

    • Attend staff meetings and Catholic Parish Advisory Council meetings.
    • Compile ministry information for reporting purposes and manage documentation for Catholic supplies purchasing.
  5. Daily Mass and Staff Meetings:

    • Conduct Daily Mass on weekdays and attend weekly staff meetings as scheduled by the Wing Chaplain.
  6. Goal Setting and Expertise:

    • Assist in developing goals meeting Air Force and Catholic requirements.
    • Provide technical expertise on Catholic traditions, policies, and procedures.
  7. Volunteer Management:

    • Recruit and train volunteers to support Catholic and chapel programs.
  8. Resource Management:

    • Provide recommendations on Catholic service funds and resources allocation.
  9. Record Keeping:

    • Maintain records related to religious education programs, sacraments, and pastoral activities.
    • Ensure compliance with Privacy Act requirements.
  10. Advisory Council Leadership:

    • Schedule and lead regular parish advisory council meetings to address community concerns.
  11. Liaison and Coordination:

    • Maintain working relationships with external Catholic organizations and base personnel.
    • Coordinate Catholic-related events with other base organizations.
  12. Pastoral Care:

    • Provide counseling, assistance, and spiritual care to individuals seeking support.
    • Offer pastoral care during emergencies and bereavement situations.
  13. Professional Development:

    • Maintain proficiency through required training programs.
  14. Collaboration with Catholic Community:

    • Coordinate efforts with other Catholic community contractors to plan activities and manage resources.
  15. Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with all contractual requirements and regulations.
    • Abide by the directive not to use the title of "chaplain."
