Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Buyer to join our Supply Chain Team. The
Buyer position will play a key role in managing procurement activities, enforcing contract
language, and ensuring the timely acquisition of materials and services. The ideal candidate will
have a strong background in purchasing, exceptional negotiation skills, and a strategic mindset.

This position may be filled at the Buyer level or Senior Buyer level based on a combination of
education and prior relevant experience.

Essential Duties & Activities:

  • R&D/NPI Supply Chain Management: Manage rev control and order release through development cycle. Coordinate with Engineering and Production to ensure requirements are met and material is available for production release. 
  • Strategic Sourcing: Work with team to implement strategic sourcing initiatives to identify cost-effective suppliers and optimize procurement processes.
  • Supplier Management: Cultivate and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure cost, quality, delivery and cash flow initiatives are achieved.
  • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing agreements with suppliers to achieve cost savings and mitigate risks.
  • Procurement Planning: Collaborate with stakeholders to forecast demand, plan procurement activities, and ensure timely acquisition of materials and services.
  • Purchase Order Management: Create, review, and manage purchase orders to ensure accuracy and compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Cost Analysis: Conduct cost analysis and market research to identify cost-saving opportunities and drive continuous improvement in procurement practices.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring business continuity.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and ethical standards in all procurement activities.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and work closely with Materials Coordinator to optimize inventory turnover, set safety stock levels and minimize carrying costs.
  • Supplier Performance Evaluation: Evaluate supplier performance based on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as quality and on time delivery, and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Operations, and Engineering, to align procurement activities with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in procurement operations.
  • Training and Development: Mentor and cross-train team members to develop their skills and capabilities in procurement.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to drive cost savings through strategic sourcing and supplier management.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Experience in procurement software and ERP systems, or ability to quickly pick-up and adapt to new software and systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex procurement projects and achieving results.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management.
  • Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, CSCP).
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and ability to mentor and develop team members.
  • Proficiency procurement software and ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of contract law, contract negotiation principles, and contract management practices.
