Position: Transitional Housing Case Manager

 

HOPE of East Central Illinois is dedicated to ending domestic violence by providing a wide range of services for victims and facilitating social change. We are currently seeking to fill a Full-Time Transitional Housing Case Manager role within our Charleston office.

Job Description:

Exempt.  Full-time position, 40 hours per week. The Transitional Housing Case Manager role may require some evenings and flexible hours. This position is responsible for case management and advocacy services for adult clients and their dependents in our transitional housing program. Major duties include providing direct services to clients including emergency shelter, crisis intervention, short-term counseling, life skills and housing stability while upholding the agency's confidentiality policy. Job tasks may also include lifting, painting, cleaning and maintenance to units. Reports to the Director of Housing.

 

 Responsibilities:

  1. Complete client intakes and assessments
  2. Provide counseling, assistance with life skills, advocacy, and other direct services as necessary
  3. Assist in facilitation of life skills groups and tenant meetings
  4. Provide transportation
  5. Establish safety and goal plans with clients and assist them in obtaining, maintaining, and updating those goals
  6. Monitor and evaluate progress towards goals
  7. Document all interaction with clients
  8. Assist in updating and maintaining client files
  9. Implement and monitor agency’s policies and procedures to assure client safety
  10. Cover hotline and on-call rotation
  11. Position is included in the agency's on-call rotation
  12. Other duties assigned

 

Position Requirements:

 

Education /Certification

  • Valid Driver’s License and Auto Insurance - Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree - Required
  • 40-Hour Training in Domestic Violence - Will be provided
  • Successful completion of a background check - Required

 

Experience

  • 1-3 Years of Job Related Experience - Required
  • Experience working with Victims of Domestic Violence - Preferred

 

Abilities

  • Sitting or prolonged standing - Required
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds - Required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills - Required
  • Basic computer skills - Required
  • Ability to read and understand written information - Required
  • Competency recognizing and responding effectively to survivors who are evidencing trauma responses - Required
  • Ability to utilize sound judgment and problem solving skills - Required
  • Must be a team player - Required
  • Ability to communicate with and empower clients - Required
  • Commitment to non-violence within families and homes - Required

The Transitional Housing Case Manager must be willing to engage in direct communication in an effort to contribute to a healthy positive work culture. An understanding of housing issues, knowledge of community resources and a sensitivity to the needs of survivors and their children is required.
