Harney District Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT). This position is often the solitary technician and must be comfortable working independently. This role is responsible for providing accurate and timely test results that will help providers determine patient care needs. The right candidate is a strong Generalist who is a willing and capable phlebotomist when needed. Due to the rural location of Harney District Hospital, our ideal candidate must possess a comprehensive range of laboratory knowledge and skills, and be able to adapt and learn new skills without hesitation. MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: Broad knowledge of standard chemical, microscopic bacteriological and serological procedures, modern laboratory principles and techniques and their application in clinical analysis, and appropriate equipment procedures and maintenance. Completion of an Associates degree in medical laboratory and one (1) year experience, or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above duties.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/LICENSES: Possession of current Medical Laboratory Technician certification with AMT or ASCP. In order to meet the requirements mandated by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988, Sec. 493.1423, documentation including diploma copy or official transcript of highest academic achievement must be provided at time of hire.
