The Veteran Careers Program 

The Ford – Lincoln Veteran Careers Program is a 24-month U.S. Department of Labor and GI Bill® approved Veteran Careers Program. 

  • Every hired Veteran will begin their new Ford Technician career with full-time employment at a participating dealership. 

  • Optional starter set of tools available for Veterans hired through the program paid for by hiring dealer. 

  • Once on board at the dealership, the Veteran will complete 8 weeks of eLearning and practical exercises prior to attending a 4-week intensive Instructor Led Course at a Ford Service Training Center. 
  • Once the training is complete the Veteran’s learning will continue with selected activities and on the job training at the dealership. Successful participants will become a certified Ford Chassis Technician.

FAQ: 

1.Who is qualified for the program? 

 Honorably discharged Military Veterans that have transferable skills from their military experience. Must have clean driving record, no DUI/DWI’s or reckless driving tickets. 

2.Can I use my GI Bill benefits? 

Yes, the Ford Veterans Careers Program is certified with the Department of Labor. We will help with all the necessary paperwork to take advantage of your benefits once you are employed at Don Aadsen Ford. 

3. Do I need tools? 

No, if you qualify for the program and are hired, a toolbox will be purchased by Don Aadsen Ford. Typically ownership of the toolbox is transferred at the end of the two year apprenticeship period. 

4. What is the length of the commitment if I am accepted into the program? 

The expectation is that you will be committed to the program for a minimum of two years. The program is designed as a two- year apprenticeship with most of the learning and instructor led courses coming in year one. The second year if the program is where the lessons taught during classes are applied and the hired Veteran should become proficient. 

5. What kind of training and where am I looking at going for school? 

The academy is in Houston Tx. You go 4 consecutive weeks of for Certified training taught by Ford instructors. Also, during the two-year apprenticeship program, Don Aadsen Ford will provide a mentor that will guide you through day to day operations as a service technician.
