Teen Services Mobile Diversion & Navigation Caseworker

Preble Street's Teen Services programs work together to offer access to casework, shelter, housing, food, and other essential services 24/7, 365 days a year to youth experiencing homelessness or housing instability. Preble Street's Teen Outreach Services supports youth ages 16 - 24 with a low-barrier, Housing First approach, connecting youth to long-term housing options and offering intensive, supportive services and case management toward achieving and maintaining housing stability.

Preble Street is currently seeking a full-time Mobile Diversion & Navigation Caseworker to join the Teen Outreach team. The Caseworker will provide intensive, short-term casework and diversion efforts to rapidly resolve episodes of homelessness for youth ages 12-24 through building relationships with clients, engaging in mediation and conflict resolution, maintaining client safety, and providing crisis intervention and support in a community-setting. This role is also responsible for supporting program documentation needs, participating in programming, and coordinating services and support across all Teen Services shifts.

The current schedule for this full-time position is Sunday-Thursday, 9:00-5:30.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in social work or related field and experience relevant to working with youth experiencing homelessness. or a comparable combination of education and experience.

Qualified candidates will also have an understanding of and positive regard for people who are experiencing homelessness; an understanding of social work theory and practice; familiarity with community resources; an appreciation of low-barrier service challenges; the ability to establish boundaries with a diverse population; good verbal and written communication skills; and the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Eligibility for employment with Teen Services also requires that staff be at least 21 years of age; hold certification or become certified in First Aid (on-site training opportunities offered); provide proof of education (diploma or transcript); and have acceptable background check results, including BMV. Teen Services staff also must attend recurrent, regularly-scheduled trainings, which are provided on-site. Reliable transportation is required for this position.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly rate of pay for this full-time (40 hours/week) position is $20.70 per hour, as well as generous paid time off, insurance, and retirement plan benefits including:

• 4 weeks/160 hours (accrued) vacation time, 12 days/96 hours (accrued) sick time, 2 days/16 hours personal time, 12 paid holidays.
