Job Description
The Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) at Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking candidates for a Neutron Radiography (NRAD) Facility Reactor Supervisor (RS) reporting to the NRAD Nuclear Facility Manager within the MFC Reactors Division. If you want to be a part of enabling nuclear energy research and development, including the development and deployment of next generation nuclear reactors, then this position is for you. Our team works onsite, 4x10 schedule located out of our MFC Facility with every Friday off. The RS assists and supervises in all operations, maintenance, testing, and modification efforts performed on the NRAD reactor and facility. Additional work activities may include tracking, packaging, transferring, receiving, storing fissionable materials, and handling radioactive material. Responsibilities Include:
- Supervises NRAD Reactor operations and research activities.
- Identify and supervise adequate post maintenance checks that are completed before returning systems to service.
- Analyzes numerous operating documents, including operating instructions, maintenance instructions, experimental and test procedures, facility modification and temporary modification packages, and training documents as assigned by the Nuclear Facility Manager (NFM).
- Lead efforts to develop new procedures and methods for complex, non-routine, processes.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related science/technology and 5 years relevant experience.
- Relevant experience includes previous qualification as an US-NRC or US-DOE licensed/certified commercial or research reactor RO or SRO; U.S. Navy qualification in the Naval Nuclear Power Program (NNPP) Reactor Operator (RO), Electrical Operator (EO), Mechanical Operator (MO) or Engineering Laboratory Technician (ELT) or graduation; from the Idaho State University (ISU) Energy Systems Technology (ESTEC) Nuclear Operation Technology program (or similar accredited program).
- A combination of education and experience may be used to satisfy this requirement .
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
- Must have the ability and willingness to obtain and maintain an NRAD Reactor Supervisor (RS) Certification (equivalent to Senior Reactor Operator and Fissionable Material Handler-Supervisor).
- Must have the ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a DOE Clearance and may include the following: meeting Human Reliability Program requirements, urine drug screen, physical exam, and security review.
- Must have the ability and willingness to obtain and maintain Radiological Worker II (RAD2) qualifications which includes donning and doffing of anti-contamination clothing and wearing a full-face respirator or powered air purifying respirator (PAPR).
- Preferred, have demonstrated experience in radiological procedures and processes
- Salary Grade MR0200: 220 ($110,316 - $181,956)
