Position Summary: The Facilities Assistant assists the Facilities Director in ensuring that Kennolyn properties are well maintained, safe, esthetically presentable and the Facilities Department responds to the needs of the employees, guests and tenants on sight.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned).

• Construction and Maintenance (estimated 75% of the job)

• New construction and general repairs utilizing carpentry skills.

• Plumbing, including installation and repair of fixtures, water heaters, etc.

• General maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings including bathrooms, decking, etc.

• Masonry and concrete work.

• Operation of our water and sewage systems.


Groundskeeping/Gardening (estimated less than 15% of the job)

• Includes pruning bushes, pulling weeds, deadheading flowers, mowing lawns, watering potted plants, maintaining greenhouse, clearing brush, mowing fields, etc.


• Custodial duties (estimated less than 5% of the job)

• Includes sweeping, bathroom cleaning, clearing of trash, maintaining and cleaning fountains, cleaning accommodations and meeting rooms, cleaning offices, etc. as needed.


• Staff supervision (estimated less than 5% of the job, but may increase as position develops)

• In the absence of the Facilities Director, the Facilities Assistant is responsible for the coordination for the facilities crew and their work assignments.


• Help maintain vehicles, storage facilities and tools.

• Flood erosion control projects

• Pest control: rodents, skunks, deer, insects, etc.

• Other facilities work as assigned.


General Duties:

• Conduct self in a manner reflecting credit on Kennolyn and encourage others to do the same

• Meet or exceed performance guidelines indicated at employment reviews

• Establish and maintain effective channels of communications with co-workers, clients, vendors, neighbors and other business contacts

• Maintain strict confidentiality of client and business operations information

• Use equipment and materials in a safe and acceptable manner, following established safety procedures and observing common sense rules of safety, in all on-the-job activities.

• Participate in weekly safety meetings.




Requirements:

Qualifications Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent. College level course work or degree preferred.

• Some experience in at least one of the building trades.

• Management experience required.

• Strong organizational and communication skills.

• High level of professionalism and driven by excellence.

• Enthusiastic self-started, capable of working with minimal supervision.

• Experience and familiarity with hand and power tools.

• Ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 75 lbs.

• Ability and willingness to work outside in all weather conditions.

• Current driver’s license.

• Willingness to abide by the company conduct, dress, and grooming codes including no smoking on Kennolyn property.

• Experience working in a child-oriented business preferred (camp, outdoor ed., school).

• Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus but not required.
