Job Description:

As a Psychiatrist at Reliatus Behavioral Health, you will play a crucial role in delivering comprehensive psychiatric care to our clients. You will oversee the daily operations of hospitals and medical centers by ensuring the hospital's expenses stay within the budget, hiring and training all healthcare physicians and keeping the facility safe and comfortable for all patients and visitors.
You will also work within a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, social workers, and other mental health professionals, to provide a holistic approach to mental health treatment. Essential duties include conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments/evaluations and mental status examinations (MSEs) of patients, providing multi-axial diagnoses according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) approved by the American Psychiatric Association; developing and implementing individualized mental health treatment planning for assigned child/adolescent patients; providing competent psychotropic medication treatment and other psychiatric treatments to meet the needs of assigned patients; performing related tasks as required. Your expertise will contribute to improving the well-being of individuals facing a wide range of mental health challenges.

We are recruiting a Chief Medical Officer/inpatient adult/general psychiatrist. The position is full-time with a Mon-Fri schedule and 1:5 weekend coverage. There is a once per week overnight call, psych NP support, above average base salary, manageable caseload, and excellent support staff. The ability to work with medical students is required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assess and screen patients by conducting psychiatric evaluations, including interviews, medical histories, physical exams, observations, and psychological testing
  • Analyze data and results of assessments to diagnose patients
  • Prescribe and administer medications according to diagnosis
  • Monitor patients to determine efficacy and potential side effects of medications
  • Develop a treatment plan, measure progress against the plan, and make adjustments as needed
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed
  • Complete all necessary clinical documentation in an accurate and timely manner
  • Collaborate with a broader team of physicians, psychologists, and nurses to assess and adjust treatment plans
  • Coordinate and communicate with case managers and other stakeholders about treatment and care
  • Make sure the staff adheres to and follows all safety standards and healthcare regulations
  • Seek ways to improve the organization's clinical services
  • Update staff on new healthcare regulations as they are received
  • Develop and manage a clinical facility's budget
  • Train new Doctors

Job Qualifications:

  • Current and valid board certification in psychiatry
  • Medical degree from an accredited medical school and completion of an approved psychiatric residency
  • Licensed to practice medicine in New Mexico
  • Current DEA registration
  • Excellent knowledge and familiarity with current DSM criteria
  • Familiar with crisis assessment tools and techniques
  • Strong working knowledge of general psychiatric principles and practices
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
