Western Business Development Manager

SUMMARY:
Powerex is looking for a business development manager dedicated to growing our air-brake compressor presence within the Class 6 - 8 electric trucking market as well as other niche large vehicle markets. Electric categories include Battery Electric, Fuel Cell, and Hybrid OEMs. Powerex has a strong presence in the electric bus industry, and we are mirroring this growth in the electric truck market. The electric trucking market is a few years behind the electric bus industry, but it is growing quickly either via startups or new divisions within established companies. While the business development manager will look to convert existing trucking prototypes into production quantities, this person must also be a strong hunter who can find an audience with new prospects. He/she will involve other members of the team to include engineering, quality, operations, management, and customer service. The position will cover the US and Canada, but due to proximity of electric trucking customer base and startups, the ideal candidate would be located in California or within a quick flight to Los Angeles, Sacramento, and San Francisco.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time
  • Build and maintain a positive working relationship with engineers and sourcing counterparts
  • Manage projects related to the existing product line and customer updates
  • Work with customer service and management on quoting activities including the creation and submittal of quotes for customers
  • Respond to all requests for information about products, pricing, and lead times in a timely manner
  • Heavy prospecting skillset calling high, wide, and deep within prospective organizations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • A BS/BA undergraduate degree is required
  • 2-5 years of technical sales experience is preferred
  • Well versed in Excel (formulas, pivot tables, etc.) for customer tracking purposes
  • Experience working with or selling technical and/or industrial products is preferred
  • Experience with automotive industry customers and drive trains is preferred
  • Experience with compressed air is preferred
  • Excellent time management and organization skills are a necessity
