Temporary Lead Carpenter-Kobuk

DESCRIPTION:

Oversees labor crew, directs work and assigns tasks for job work orders and assignments. Oversees and performs tasks involving physical labor for construction job sites. May operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, and clean up rubble, debris and other wasted materials, May assist other craft workers on various construction projects.

DUTIES:

• Oversees labor crew on various construction projects.
• Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment
• Verify trueness of structure, using plumb bob and level.
• Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using a ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
• Install structures or fixtures, such as windows, frames flooring, trim, or hardware, using carpenters' hand or power tools.
• Erect scaffolding or ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
• Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials requested.
• Operate equipment such as: Loaders, excavators, fork lifts or utility vehicles.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5 years direct work experience overseeing construction projects and labor pools.
• Excellent communication skills
• Certification in carpentry from a trade or technical school or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
