What you will be doing:

  • Manage daily activities of a team of Claims Examiners to include coaching, development, and goal setting/management.
  • Ensure superior customer service is delivered with each insured, as well as external business partners, throughout the process of handling and/or disposition of claims.
  • Evaluate claims and rectify policy coverage issues in excess of Examiner authority.
  • Conduct Open and Closed File Reviews to evaluate and document overall operational value.
  • Develop and analyze statistical reports.
  • Delegate settlement authority and utilize delegated authority effectively.
  • Facilitate the settling of complex claims and process related paperwork.
  • Provide leadership to team members and regularly conduct effective and timely structured Performance Feedback sessions.
  • Assist in conducting team member interviews and make staffing recommendations.
  • Ensure legal compliance, adherence to claims processes, and timely payments.
  • Pursue continued education opportunities to remain abreast of emerging laws or other required changes to insurance-related processes.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

What you have:

Education, Experience, and Licensing:

  • Bachelor's degree or High School diploma and equivalent relevant work experience required.
  • 5+ years of experience in Personal Property Claims dealing with a wide variety of property claims required.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience including setting of goals and managing performance.
  • 2+ years of experience working directly for an insurance carrier.
  • 3+ years' experience with Florida insurance laws and Florida good faith claims handling required.
  • Industry designations or certifications a plus.

Qualifications/Skills and Competencies:

  • Must have a thorough understanding of insurance-related legal procedures, regulations, and claims processing.
  • Strong vendor management and negotiation skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of property claims practices and legal terminology.
  • Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills.
  • Proven ability to be adaptable and flexible; able to adjust to new requirements or unforeseen issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on excellent customer service.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional time management skills; ability to prioritize tasks and allocate resources efficiently.
  • Data-driven, analytical approach necessary.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to professionally interact with team members in other departments.
  • Working knowledge to interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and department operational guidelines in daily functions.
  • Proficient in MSO/365 applications such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Xactimate proficiency a plus.
