GVEA is an electric cooperative which maintains 3,292 miles of transmission and distribution lines, 40 substations, and 9 generating facilities. Our system is interconnected with Fort Wainwright, Eielson AFB, Fort Greely, the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, and all of the electric utilities in the Alaska Railbelt, extending from Homer to Fairbanks. As a Plant Engineer at Golden Valley Electric Association, you will leverage your leadership skills to collaborate with consulting engineers, contractors, and GVEA personnel to successfully execute highly technical projects. Your role will be pivotal in optimizing overall plant performance by ensuring the seamless coordination of plant personnel to maintain the availability and reliability of our generating facilities. With a focus on safety and cost-effectiveness, you will take accountability for specifying materials, coordinating labor, providing guidance to work crews, and overseeing project timelines. Your attention to detail and commitment to excellence will ensure the successful operation and maintenance of our generating facilities, contributing to the consistent delivery of reliable electricity to our community.

To excel as a Plant Engineer at Golden Valley Electric Association, candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution, along with expertise in MS/EE theory and control systems. A valid driver's license is essential, alongside a minimum of three to eight years of relevant professional experience in power generation equipment operation and maintenance or a related field. Previous experience in electric utility generation and demonstrated project management skills are critical for success in this role. A proven track record of excellent safety practices is a must, ensuring a commitment to upholding the highest safety standards in all aspects of plant operations.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
• Training in MS/EE theory and control systems.
• Valid driver's license.
• Minimum three to eight years of similar professional experience.
• Experience with power generation equipment operation and maintenance or in a related field.
• Electric utility generation experience and demonstrated project management experience.
• Excellent safety track record
