Structural Engineer

POSITION DESCRIPTIONWe are currently seeking a full-time STRUCTURAL PROJECT ENGINEER to join our structural team. Our team works with State and Local Government on bridge and culvert related projects. We are looking for a candidate with excellent communication, leadership and organizational skills to assist our current staff in serving our clients. This position will collaborate with our structural team members across our organization.RESPONSIBILITIES

• Structural design and detailing for bridge, building and/or other structures
• Work with teams participating in planning, design and construction of structural projects, with future opportunities to lead project teams
• Client contact including verbal and written communication
• Ability to complete projects on time and within budget
• Periodic on-site construction observation
• Inspection and load rating of in-service bridges

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• 5 years or more experience in structural engineering
• Iowa PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months
• Solid written and verbal communication skills

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Experience with Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) projects and procedures
• Knowledge of AASHTO LRFD bridge design code
• Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering
• Experience with hydraulic design for bridges and roadway design
• Experience with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD

• Field: Frequent standing, walking and bending. Occasional climbing, pushing/pulling, lifting/lowering up to 40 lbs.
• Office: Occasional climbing, bending, crouching, pushing/pulling, lifting/lowering 5 to 20 lbs., and repetitive motion with hands, wrists, or arms. Frequent sitting, walking and use of computer/keyboard. Much of the day – standing/sitting computer/keyboard use.
