Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team as part of our growing Electrical group. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing electrical aspects of construction projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and project specifications. The ideal candidate should have a solid background in electrical engineering, strong project management skills, and a proven track record of successfully managing electrical construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Project Planning and Design:
- Collaborate with project managers, and other stakeholders to develop electrical designs and plans for construction projects.
- Conduct feasibility studies and provide input during the project planning phase.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all electrical designs and installations comply with local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations.
- Obtain necessary permits and approvals from relevant authorities.
- Construction Oversight:
- Supervise and inspect electrical installations during the construction phase to ensure adherence to design specifications and safety standards.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems within the overall project.
- Budget and Resource Management:
- Assist in the preparation of project estimating and budgets related to electrical components.
- Monitor project expenditures and ensure adherence to financial constraints.
- Quality Assurance:
- Implement and maintain quality control processes for electrical installations.
- Conduct inspections and tests to verify the functionality and reliability of electrical systems.
- Project Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and as-built documentation.
- Client Interaction:
- Communicate regularly with clients to provide project updates, address concerns, and ensure satisfaction with the electrical aspects of the construction.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 3-5 years of proven experience in construction electrical engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
- 10-15 years of demonstrated hands on experience in the relevant areas will be considered in lieu of Electrical Engineering degree and/or PE license
- Currently in possession (or ability to obtain) of a Florida Electrical Contractor's license preferred
- In-depth knowledge of electrical design principles, construction methods, and materials.
- In-depth knowledge of single and three phase electrical systems required. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics at a high level.
- Knowledge of high voltage switchgear and transformer testing a plus
- PLC Programming capabilities would be a plus.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to aid in estimating projects as needed to support departmental growth
- Must be able to visit job sites and walk down jobs to develop scope of work to support estimating process
- Proficiency in relevant software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations in construction.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Must be able to travel intermittently to job sites for pre-bids, project reviews, etc. Some overnight travel may be required.
