1st Shift Assembler-Entry Level

Starting Pay 21.00 per hour

Entry level position, training will be provided.

Radius Aerospace– Shelbyville is a leading manufacturer of sheet metal parts and assemblies used in the aviation industry. We utilize a wide range of metal forming techniques and special manufacturing processes, servicing the commercial, military, regional jet, helicopter, and general aviation markets.

We are looking for Assembly associates to join our team. Our assembly associates perform a variety of assembly operations on assemblies and subassemblies. Monitors and verifies quality processes or other control procedures. Will also assist with inventory and cycle count.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Know and follow general company and corporate policies and procedures
  • Able to identify and properly use basic pneumatic tools such as drill motors, dotco's and countersink cutters
  • Inspects assemblies and installations for conformance to specifications. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical processes or other control procedures.
  • Good regular attendance
  • Read and interpret drawings, illustrations, specifications and identifies their relevance to the manufacturing of parts
  • Responsible for analyzing work order/traveler, specifications, check fixtures, mylars and shop aids to perform handwork or rework of formed parts to comply with quality standards and customer requirements
  • Assembles parts to subassemblies using bolts, screws, rivets, and demonstrates the proper use of adhesives
  • Operator must be able to stand for 10 hours a day and be able to work in a hot and cold environment.
  • Verify characteristics of parts are acceptable using various measuring devices
  • Report to work on time, follow instructions from supervisor or management, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow work rules and procedures.
  • Other various duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess basic computer proficiency and functional knowledge with applications and activities
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Basic math and reading comprehension

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and write the English language
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write appropriate correspondences
  • Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one and small group situation to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
