Job Description

Job Description

When you join Willamette View, you become a valuable part of a non-profit organization that holds a prominent position in the retirement and continuing care industry. At Willamette View, you'll have the chance to contribute to the ethos of "Inspiring the Art of Living Well" for our active resident community, playing a key role in helping individuals lead rich and fulfilling lives. If you appreciate the importance of personal relationships and making a meaningful impact on the lives of others, our unique and progressive senior community is the ideal place for you.

As the Lead Cook, you'll play a crucial role in supporting the Executive Chef and Sous Chef. Your main responsibility is ensuring that the food production in the Health Center meets high standards, including catering to special dietary needs and maintaining overall food quality.

In this position, your tasks will involve reviewing menus and recipes to plan food preparation activities. You'll oversee the kitchen operations for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, ensuring everything runs smoothly. It'll be up to you to organize and delegate tasks for small batch cooking, as well as troubleshoot any issues that may arise during the process.

You'll also collaborate closely with the Health Center Cook, particularly in producing specialized foods and textured diets for specific residents. Additionally, you'll lend a hand in training and orienting new kitchen staff members.

And when necessary, you'll step in to assist the Sous Chef with various responsibilities such as purchasing, staff scheduling, equipment maintenance, and inventory management.

Work Experience:

  • Prefer one-year's experience in all phases of food production for a high-volume kitchen operation.
  • Good communication skills: must be able to demonstrate effective reading, writing, and speaking skills, possess strong mathematical and analytical skills and be able to follow written instructions and understand measurements.
  • Be a detail-oriented person, perform duties with great accuracy and work cooperatively with others.

At Willamette View, we believe in investing in our employees right from Day 1. When you join our team, you'll gain access to a comprehensive range of benefits designed to enhance your well-being. You'll be entering a culture of community where both employees and residents are deeply passionate and engaged as owners.

We are committed to providing equitable pay for all team members, and for this role, we estimate a reasonable base salary range of $20.80 USD to $ 23.90 USD per hour. The actual salary may vary based on factors such as education, training, experience, professional achievements, and business needs.

Here are some highlights of the benefits we offer:

  • Full benefits package, including Medical, Dental & Life Insurance, along with optional flexible spending accounts and a 401K retirement plan with a match.
  • Support for your well-being through access to our fitness center, educational opportunities and scholarships, wellness incentives, and a subsidized food program.
  • Enjoy your breaks in the refreshing environment of our 27-acre riverfront campus.
  • Take advantage of our generous Paid Time Off (PTO) plan to rest and recuperate.
  • We actively recognize and reward excellence, creativity, and teamwork among our dedicated staff.

Willamette View believes in building a sense of community and inclusivity, both in the relationships we build with our residents and with our own team. We are committed to celebrating all dimensions of diversity in the workplace equally and ensuring that everyone feels a sense of inclusion and belonging. We are constantly listening, learning, and evolving to deliver on these principles. We are proud of our collaborative culture.
