Automotive Body Technician / Collision Repair Technician
Summary: Body Techs restore damaged vehicles to their original structural integrity, function, and appearance. Use hand tools and power tools to remove or repair damaged parts, weld as needed, and properly install new parts. Work with a variety of metals and plastics, as well as glass, electrical, and mechanical parts. Damaged vehicles must be repaired correctly so they will perform as designed.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform work outlined on repair order with efficiency, accuracy, and in accordance with dealership and insurance company policy
- Assessing vehicle condition to determine if additional safety or repair work is needed
- Communicating with estimators and parts to obtain necessary parts
- Document all work performed on the repair order, with proper flag sheets, technician notes, etc.
- Provide superior customer satisfaction
- Maintain dealership-owned tools and manuals in good working order and assume accountability for those tools; return all tools/manuals to their proper place after use.
- Operate all equipment in a safe and productive manner following safety standards and using personal protective equipment while working
- Clean and maintain work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety
- Computerized transactions/record keeping
- Follow all Company procedures and standards
Qualifications for this job:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must provide own tool set
- Certifications required
- Basic computer, email, and internet proficiency
- Strong time management skills
- Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
- Lifting of heavy items of up to 75 pounds
- Able to withstand exposure to adverse weather conditions, chemicals, odors, dirt and dust
- Valid Driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle driving record according to dealership guidelines
- Must be able to pass background screening and drug test
