The candidate should have all the relevant education and experiences to perform the duties effectively and efficiently, and his responsibilities include the duties mentioned in this Job Description.

Job Details:

Job Title: Internal Medicine/Family Practice Physician

Type: Full Time, Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Location: Montevideo CBOC, 1025 N 13th St, Montevideo, MN 56265



Requirements & Skills:

The Candidate shall meet the minimum following requirements:

  • Shall have a current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
  • All licenses held by the personnel working on this contract shall be full and unrestricted licenses.
  • Shall have current, full and unrestricted licenses in one or more states, but who have, or ever had, a license restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action or denied upon application will not be considered for the purposes of this contract.
  • Physician shall be board certified.
  • Shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the government's requirements, including the ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.
  • Shall have knowledge of professional care theories, principles, practices, and procedures to service primary care outpatient clinic patient population.
  • Shall demonstrate knowledge of growth and development, pathophysiology of disease processes, and chronic disease management.
  • Physician must be certified and current in Basic Life Support.

Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

The Candidate will undertake the following duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Reviews patient files/records, including allergies, problems, medications, and immunization status.
  • Elicits and records information about patients' medical history.
  • Examines patients for symptoms or physical information.
  • Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on the patient's condition.
  • Analyzes reports and findings of tests and examinations and diagnoses the condition of the patient.
  • Administers or prescribes treatments.
  • Determines and prescribes medication, dosage, and schedule gave the patient's condition and allergies.
  • Discusses any possible side effects of medication or immunization with the patient.
  • Prescribes vaccinations to immunize patients from communicable diseases.
  • Promotes health by advising patients about diet, hygiene, and methods for the prevention of disease.
  • Performs surgical procedures commensurate with surgical competency.
  • Refers patients to a medical specialist for consultant services when necessary for the patient's well-being.
  • Documents the patient's visit including medical history, physical exam, diagnoses, and plan of action.
  • Follows up with patients regarding progress in high-risk or emergency cases.
  • conducts physical examinations to provide the information needed for admission to school, consideration for jobs, or eligibility for insurance coverage.
  • Administer Family Planning services in compliance with title X Rules and Regulations/Protocols.
  • Reviews and audits health charts of patients who receive Family Planning services.
  • Commitment to the mission of St. John's with clinic involvement and engaging in healthcare community events Provider goals: sees a minimum of twenty-five patients per day subject to clinic goals
