Description:

The LNG I&E Plant Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems and equipment within the LNG facility. They will perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks to minimize downtime and ensure optimal function of electrical components critical to LNG production and processing. This position requires a well-rounded individual with strong instrumentation and electrical experience to perform all duties in accordance with prescribed safety, regulatory, and standard operating policies, and procedures.

Requirements:
  • Conduct regular inspections, testing, and maintenance of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchgear, motors, and control systems to ensure they meet operational standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Diagnose electrical issues, identify root causes of equipment malfunctions, and implement effective solutions to restore functionality and prevent recurrence.
  • Perform repairs, replacements, and adjustments on electrical components as necessary, including wiring, circuit breakers, relays, and other electrical devices, to maintain operational reliability. Ensures all company and customer safety and environmental procedures are followed.
  • Calibrate and test electrical systems and instruments to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with safety standards and operational specifications.
  • Respond promptly to electrical emergencies and breakdowns, working efficiently to troubleshoot and resolve issues to minimize production downtime and ensure safety protocols are followed.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and equipment performance data. Generate reports detailing findings, actions taken, and recommendations for improvements.
  • Adhere to safety procedures, protocols, and regulations while performing maintenance tasks. Identify potential safety hazards and implement measures to mitigate risks associated with electrical operations.
  • Coordinate with other maintenance personnel, engineers, and operations staff to schedule maintenance activities, prioritize tasks, and optimize plant performance. Provide technical expertise and support for ongoing projects and initiatives.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing equipment reliability,
  • efficiency, and safety. Suggest and implement innovative solutions to optimize electrical systems and processes.
  • Ability to read, understand and comprehend service and owner manuals, written standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other company documentation.
  • Ability to take direction from plant manager, off-site engineers, and technical support staff to successfully troubleshoot problems.
  • Maintain safe and compliant work practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED; additional technical education or certification in electrical & instrumentation systems preferred.
  • Two+ years of proven experience as an electrician in an industrial setting, preferably within the oil and gas, petrochemical, or LNG industry.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of electrical systems, components, and instrumentation used in LNG facilities, including hazardous area classifications and safety requirements.
  • High level of comfort in safely working on live equipment.
  • Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals to interpret specifications and troubleshoot issues effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex electrical problems and implement timely solutions.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations, codes, and standards governing electrical installations and maintenance in industrial environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team and interact e effectively with colleagues at all levels.
  • Commitment to safety, with a thorough understanding of safe work practices and procedures in hazardous environments.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed to support plant operations and respond to emergencies.
  • Ability to perform work without supervision and to think clearly under unexpected circumstances.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office software, and the ability to make simple mathematical computations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other Stabilis employees, and customers.
  • Ability to read, understand and comprehend service manuals, owner's manuals, written procedures, and other company documentation. Ability to use and maintain personal protective equipment (i.e., safety toe boots, hard hat, flame retardant clothing, ear/eye protection, etc.).
  • Ability to pass drug screening and occupational medical exam, along with a background check.
  • Ability to obtain TX Railroad Commission Certificate within 30 days (assistance will be provided)

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Activities involve standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, climbing, lifting, carrying, transferring objects, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Maintain LNG systems in an outdoor environment, sometimes in adverse weather.
  • The majority of the work is performed is working in a field environment and around the plant where the climate and/or temperature may be uncomfortable.
  • The incumbent may work in or near the presence of escaping natural gas, and LNG at cryogenic temperatures.
  • Office equipment will be used including copiers/printers, telephones, keyboards, and computers. Skills and activities require fine motor dexterity, good vision, good hearing, and clear speaking.
  • Non-smoking and drug free workplace.
