Position: Gift Shop Supervisor - GCW


Department: Grand Canyon West


Classification: Non-Exempt

Position Summary:


Supervises a team of Retail Cashiers with the responsibility of maintaining the retail sales areas, utilizing POS systems to handle retail transactions, both cash and credit, and answering questions from quests concerning Grand Canyon West locations and operations. Ensures that the team is providing outstanding customer service at all times and acts as a Hualapai ambassador. Responsible for retail merchandise on the floor and in the warehouse, including ordering, stocking, maintaining and pricing. Ensures proper cash handling, balancing and end of day reports are completed accurately and promptly by team members.




Knowledge and Abilities:


  1. Demonstrated ability to communicate well and interact with guests and employees in a clear, concise manner.
  2. Demonstrated ability to provide, train and promote outstanding customer service by team members.
  3. Experience in use of POS systems, handling cash and credit transactions while following proper cash handling policies and procedures and ability to train new employees in all retail areas.
  4. Ability to lead, coach, train, develop and motivate retail employees.
  5. Demonstrated ability to foster a team environment, multi-task efficiently and maintain positive working relationships.
  6. Knowledge of Grand Canyon West locations, operations, Hualapai history and culture.



Duties & Responsibilities:


  1. Direct supervision of Retail Cashiers.
  2. Responsible for teams proper cash and credit handling policies and procedures, completion of daily cash and sales reports, use of POS systems and merchandise handling procedures.
  3. Perform regular and timely Performance Evaluation discussions and documentation with members of team and promote team environment while providing individual growth opportunities for Direct Reports.
  4. Assist guests with questions they have concerning Grand Canyon West locations, operations, Hualapai history and culture. Provide and promote outstanding customer service using high service standards.
  5. Responsible for maintaining retail inventory, including ordering, stocking, maintaining and pricing.
  6. Foster a team environment, multi-task efficiently and maintain positive working relationships.
  7. Ensure employees are receiving training on POS system, proper cash handling policies and procedures and outstanding customer service.
  8. Ensure that all communications are shared with employees in a timely and accurate manner, as appropriate.
  9. Keep the Revenue Director - GCW apprised of all issues and concerns.
  10. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:


  1. Good oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  2. Valid Drivers License with clean driving record preferred.
  3. High School Diploma or GED.
  4. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  5. Prior retail sales experience working with a POS system.
  6. Preference given to Hualapai. Tribal members.


Working Conditions:


  • Typical retail environment with high transaction volume
  • May be required to lift 25 lb. merchandise boxes
  • Must be able to work varying schedules, weekends and holidays, Willingness to work in a remote location
