Architectural Specifications Writer

TETER Architects + Engineers is looking to add an experienced Architectural Specifications Writer to our team. This role presents an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with expertise in architectural specifications and a passion for ensuring projects meet the highest standards of quality and compliance. You'll prepare specifications for projects in a variety of sectors including education, healthcare, commercial, and more.

What You'll Do

· Develop comprehensive project manuals and specifications across multiple sectors including education, healthcare, commercial, industrial, and more.

· Stay abreast of building codes, industry standards, technological advancements, and construction processes.

· Manage and update the firm's master specifications library.

· Collaborate closely with project teams to align specifications with design intent and project requirements.

· Review and edit specifications prepared by in-house architects and consultants to ensure accuracy and compliance with firm standards.

· Provide guidance and support to project teams on specification-related matters.

· Maintain the firm's materials library and liaise with product representatives.

· Provide training to staff on specification production, coordination, and interpretation.

Your Qualifications

· More than 8 years of professional architecture experience.

· Five or more years of experience in preparing project manuals and specifications.

· CSI Certified Construction Specifier and/or California Architect license preferred.

· Bachelor of Architecture or Bachelor of Science in Architecture or equivalent.

· Proficient in common building types, materials, products, systems, and technical detailing.

· Familiarity with AIA contract documents and coordination required between varying contract types and specifications.

· Working knowledge of sustainable products and materials.

· Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and technical software such as MasterSpec and CAD/REVIT.

Compensation & Benefits

The expected annual salary for this role is $81,500-120,000 (must be willing to work in-office 50% of each week). Actual pay will be determined based on Architecture license, experience, qualifications, geographic location, business needs, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
