Vesta Hospitality is looking for a talented individual to help fill the role of Lobby Attendant for its new AC by Marriott Hotel at the Vancouver waterfront.

The 150-room AC by Marriott Hotel opened in June 2022, featuring 7,000 sq ft of event space (all with river view), restaurant and lounge with outdoor seating, and spectacular views of the Columbia River.

POSITION SUMMARY

As our Lobby Attendant, you will keep all lobbies and public area facilities such as lobby restrooms, telephone area, business center, and the front desk, and portico, lobby lounge in neat and clean conditions. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cleans and maintains all lobbies and public restrooms 
  • Responds to guest requests and inquiries while in the lobby
  •  Maintains all cleaning equipment properly

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greets all guests promptly in a friendly and welcoming manner 
  • Sweeps and mopes carpets, lobby entrance 
  • Empties ashtrays and urns
  • Polishes furniture and fixtures 
  • Vacuums and polishes elevators 
  • Polishes the lobby floor during night 
  • Keeps the back area of Front desk neat and clean 
  • Keeps all public areas neat, vacuumed and dusted 
  • Makes sure mirrors, furniture, floors, ashtrays, elevators and doors are clean and mark-free 
  • Removes all trash from areas 
  • Periodically checks all lobby restrooms / wash rooms 
  • Restocks all supplies including toilet paper, soap and hand towels in the lobby wash rooms 
  • Makes sure all surfaces are clean and tidy

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance.
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Displays excellent communication skills including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills required in working with guests and coworkers and including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure.
  • Respectfully takes direction from supervisor.
  • Complies with all safety policies, practices and procedures and reports all unsafe activities to supervisor.
  • Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve hotel and company goals.
  • Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge and skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Computer Skills:
Has the minimal skills necessary to operate a computer. Can log on to a computer system, navigate in windows, perform simple tasks within applications and enter information into a database.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
