Job Description

The Accounting Specialist will play an integral role in our continued growth and success. This position will report directly to the VP of Finance. Accounting Specialist is responsible for a variety of highly sensitive and confidential accounting duties including biweekly payroll processing, reconciliation of general ledger accounts related to payroll, managing accounts payable and the payment process, as well as being able to work both independently and collaboratively while also prioritizing a diverse workload. The Payroll/Accounts Payable Specialist will also work closely with cross-functional teams.

Job Duties

  • Maintain employee records in the payroll system
  • Maintain payroll deductions, deferrals, and withholdings for all employees
  • Process and post-bi-weekly payroll
  • Maintain payroll reporting records
  • Manage year-end employee W-2 and employer ACA reporting
  • Maintain vendor records and perform annual 1099 reporting
  • Process vendor invoices, including coding to appropriate projects and general ledger accounts and making payments on a timely basis
  • Manage corporate credit cards, including coding to appropriate projects and general ledger accounts and processing payments on a timely basis
  • Review, post, and pay monthly employee expense reports
  • Scan, file, and maintain accounting records
  • Process and reconcile needed G/L journal entries related to payroll and benefits
  • For assigned G/L accounts, prepare auditor requested reconciliations and provide supporting documents for year-end financial statement audit

Skills

  • Ability to quickly assess issues and relevant information to make effective decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
  • Proven ability to work with minimal direction, as well as be resourceful and independent in solving problems
  • Acute attention to detail and a dedication to providing high-quality work products.
  • Willingness to work hard with a positive attitude.
  • Proficient in financial accounting, with strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting practices and procedures

Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma
  • 2+ Years of Accounting Experience
  • Some post-secondary education or degree completion in Accounting or applicable field.
  • Basic administrative skills
  • Natural proficiency with math.
  • 2-3 years' experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of basic financial, tax, and accounting principles.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong work ethic; diplomatic; team and service-oriented; builds strong working relationships.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

  • Participate in special projects and initiatives and provide general support to Human Resources Director, Vice President of Finance
  • Other assigned duties as requested
