Job Description
  • Review recent incidents and emergency response actions.
  • Review and participate in worksite inspections/audits and implement improvements if needed.
  • Review results of occupational accidents and incidents resulting in injuries, illnesses or exposure or hazardous materials. Make suggestions to management for the prevention of future incidents.
  • Recommend new safety policies and procedures.
  • Ambassador shall review employee safety suggestions. Members shall submit recommendations to assist management in suggestion evaluation.
  • Help Maintain 5S in assigned areas.
  • Promote Health and Safety engagement campaigns.
  • Support safety efforts of designated H&S leadership.
  • Will be designated rescuer for Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) incidents.
  • Will train and provide guidance for employees regarding any safety related matters.

Perform additional duties as instructed.

Nature & Scope:

  • Works within well-defined instructions
  • The Safety Ambassador role is a means of communication between employees and management on matters of safety and health. Uses established procedures and works in a designated location under immediate supervision to perform assigned tasks.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and awareness Daikin’s Health and Safety Rules
  • Knowledge of manufacturing safety protocols and practices including PPE
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to establish positive working relationships with employees
  • Ability to understand and follow procedures, work instructions and company policies
  • Attention to detail and accuracy including good organizational skills
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency, self-motivated
  • Comfortable coaching employees
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Ability to use good judgement and strong work ethics and integrity on the job
  • Competency with computers and related software – MS Office-Outlook, Word, Excel and additional database applications
  • Knowledge of forklift/reach truck operations and safety protocols preferred

Experience:

  • 2 plus years of manufacturing experience preferably within a high volume environment
  • Powered industrial truck experience is a plus

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Some College or equivalent work experience preferred
