Position Title: Non-gaming Accounting Assistant

Reports to: Non-gaming Controller

Supervises: N/A

Summary of Position:

Entry level accountant position will perform daily and monthly accounting duties in a timely fashion to meet deadlines. Completes month end reconciliations for all related general ledger accounts in preparation for trial balance and profit & loss reviews. Works closely with Non-Gaming and Gaming departments to insure cash flow processes are being carried out efficiently and in accordance with IMGR&C policies and procedures. Will serve as a fill in at other accounting positions as the need arises.

  1. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license
    • Continual communication and initiative
    • Records miscellaneous payroll general ledger entries including 401K payments, NM withholding taxes, direct deposit wires and TM savings.
    • Reconciles assigned GL accounts in addition to bank statements
    • Reviews documents for accuracy and compliance
    • Regulatory compliance, including SEC, IRS, State of New Mexico and NIGC as they apply to job duties
    • Maintains an exemplary attendance record above the required standard due to the smallness of the department.
    • Monitors credit card transactions, disputes and daily reconciliations for Ski Apache
    • Payroll/AP balance sheet reconciliations
    • Assists with guidance for directors/managers requesting help with accounting information as needed
    • Prepaid tracking and allocations
    • Calculates and records AP invoice/PO accruals as well as any other companywide accruals that may arise
    • Utility tracking and accruals
    • Ensure primary expenses for major shows and events are posted
    • Take a proactive stance on any issues that may arise
    • Post payroll and accounts payable journal entries
    • Update AP issued checks to bank positive pay and excel check listing
    • Prepares all documents requested by outside auditors for quarterly and yearly audits
    • Completes monthly closing duties in a timely fashion in order to meet deadlines and prevent a delay in the work of other accounting department team members
    • Performs monthly accounting duties in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, MATGC policies and procedures, NIGC, MICS and IMG accounting department reporting procedures
    • Serve as backup for other positions as assigned
    • COVID spread prevention cleaning duties will be assigned and shared with the entire accounting staff.

  1. Education and/or Experience Requirements:

Associates degree in business or at least three years job related experience. Gaming experience preferred but not required. Computer skills and Microsoft Excel experience required. Knowledge of corporate accounting systems and Microsoft Word preferred. Ability to multi-task and cross train as needed. Mescalero Apache Tribal preference/Indian preference applies; multi-cultural experience preferred.
