Job Summary

The position helps maintain environmental and infection control standards within established policies and procedures of Minidoka Memorial Hospital. The Floor Care Technician Aide helps clean and maintain all carpeted and hard floor surfaces in the facility. This position is also responsible for the cleaning of all outside windows and entry doorways.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs assigned tasks in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of the Environmental Services Department.
  • Helps Perform cleaning and maintenance of all floors, carpets, and outside windows and air vents.
  • Completes work assignments in a timely manner.
  • Utilizes the appropriate chemicals, supplies and cleaning techniques according to procedure and manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Performs restoration functions on highly soiled or worn areas.
  • Operates and maintains all equipment correctly and safely.
  • Observes safety precautions at all times. Uses safety signs, WET FLOOR signs and ropes off sections of floor for cleaning where appropriate.
  • Follows all infection prevention and control practices, including Standard Precautions, Transmission-Based Precautions and hand hygiene.
  • Reports safety hazards as appropriate.
  • Always introduces self to patients, families and visitors.
  • Assists visitors with directions whenever requested.
  • Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties.
  • Ability to do work on his/her own with normal supervision.
  • Performs all aspects of assigned tasks in a manner that optimizes patient safety.
  • Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
  • Able to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Completes annual educational requirements.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements.
  • Adheres to Hospital policies and procedures.
  • Works days, evenings, nights and weekend shifts as assigned.

  • Attends annual review and departmental in-services, as appropriate.
  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility as well as the focus statement of the department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
  • Or one to three (1-3) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic computer knowledge.

Physical Requirements

Perceive the nature of sounds by the ear, express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word, perceive characteristics of objects through the eyes, extend arms and hands in any direction, seize, hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with hands, pick, pinch, or otherwise work with fingers, perceive such attributes of objects or materials as size, shape, temperature, or texture; and stoop, kneel crouch, and crawl. Must be able to lift 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting, carrying pushing, and pulling of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Continuous walking and standing. Must be able to identify, match, and distinguish colors.
