Job Summary:The Manager in the Tax department is responsible for overseeing a client’s tax planning, preparation, and filing. The Manager builds and maintains relationships with businesses and individuals to provide tax support or services.Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Act as coach and mentor to all employees in the Tax department.
- Handle onboarding, training, discipline, and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
- Oversee the daily workflow of the department.
- Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Provide oversight and direction to the employees in the Tax department.
- Assist with tax-related client issues, research, and transactions.
- Communicate directly with existing clients, colleagues, management, and IRS representatives regarding various tax matters.
- Compute taxes owed, follow tax form instructions and tax tables for federal, state, and/or international income tax compliance and planning.
- Handle federal, state and local tax audits & correspondence.
- Manage, coach, and train staff.
- Research tax laws for preparation of atypical returns or consulting engagements.
- Review and prepare complex income tax returns for individuals and businesses (Partnerships, C-Corps, S-Corps, Estates, Trusts, non-profits, etc.).
- Review and prepare quarterly tax estimates and year-end tax projections.
- Review financial records to determine forms needed to prepare return.
- Review tax provisions of corporations.
- Review and prepare quarterly tax estimates and year-end tax projections.
- Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
- Adhere to the requirements for continuing education as outlined in the Quality Control Manual.
- Complete all assigned training courses within the stated timelines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, or related field.
- CPA and or EA certification.
- Five years of experience in tax preparation of individual, pass-through entity, and corporate returns.
- Competence with GoSystems, Lacerte, or other tax software.
- Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation.
- Able to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Able to meet client deadlines and provide excellent client service.

- Competence with tax compliance and research software.
- Detail oriented with strong analytical skills.
