The Communications & Digital Media Intern is an integral part of the Public Affairs & Communications Team, assisting with a variety of projects, activities and support functions. The position reports to the VP and requires approximately 20-25 hours per week, working virtually and in person (2 days/week) in the PCPC office. This paid internship is June-December 2024.

Requirements:

Essential Functions:

  • Monitor traditional and social media coverage, and prepare daily clips for PCPC and the industry
  • Review beauty and trade publications for relevant industry articles
  • Monitor NGO activity and communicate to Team accordingly
  • Identify opportunities for social and digital media platforms
  • Assist in drafting social media content and corresponding multimedia
  • Track PCPC media inquiries and resulting coverage
  • Post press statements and releases to website
  • Assist in designing PowerPoint presentations for meetings
  • Draft biweekly newsletter articles as needed
  • Assist with various projects per direction of Team members
  • Additional administrative duties (updating and maintaining media lists, department project tracker, media placements, digital tracking, filing, etc.)

Skills & Abilities:

  • Majors in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and other programs (i.e., Canva)
  • Social media savvy and general understanding of best practices
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently on assignments and projects
  • Basic graphic design knowledge (preferred)
  • Experience writing news releases and press statements (preferred)
