Electrical Engineer; Sugar Refinery, MT
Position Overview:
Join our team as an Electrical Engineer and play a vital role in designing and overseeing electrical & instrumentation upgrades across multiple sites, particularly focusing on two sugar beet processing facilities situated in south/central Montana and north/central Wyoming.
Up to 50% travel requirement. This position entails auditing facilities to ensure proper operation and maintenance of electrical & instrumentation equipment.
This position reports to the Electrical Engineering Manager and involves building strong working relationships with plant personnel, engineering staff, and third-party vendors. The incumbent to demonstrate and apply strong knowledge and leadership within the industrial electrical domain.
Essential Functions:
- Lead electrical & instrumentation projects from design to full execution.
- Utilize computer-assisted design or engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD) to perform various engineering tasks.
- Collaborate with fellow engineers and plant personnel for troubleshooting repairs and future projects.
- Prepare electrical systems specifications, technical drawings, or topographical maps to ensure compliance with operating and installation standards.
- Conduct detailed calculations for standards, designs, and plans.
- Ensure compliance with standards, specifications, and codes by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, or testing activities.
- Conduct inspections to ensure equipment and systems are safe and operable.
- Prepare reports and compile data for existing and potential electrical engineering projects.
- Develop specifications for electrical equipment and materials purchases.
- Supervise and train plant personnel and project team members.
- Estimate material, labor, or construction costs for capital projects and assist in budget preparation.
- Diagnose and solve electrical problems.
- Work closely with others to install, service, calibrate, and update electrical systems.
- Develop and test electrical system prototypes or simulated events, making equipment or controls modifications as necessary.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in Electrical Engineering within an industrial manuf. / refining environment.
- Proficiency in designing medium and low voltage systems (12470v to 24v).
- Familiarity with NEC and NFPA 70E.
- Experience in designing PLC cabinets, MCC, and Switchboards.
- Proficiency in relevant software or willingness to learn.
- Knowledge of applicable electrical engineering codes.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
