Director of Engineering

Coalesce is in search of a Director of Engineering to lead our dynamic team in shaping the future of data transformation platforms. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in driving the strategic growth and operational excellence of our engineering organization, playing a key role in steering our trajectory as we revolutionize the data analytics landscape.

The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in strategic leadership and operational management, particularly within the startup ecosystem, where they have successfully scaled engineering teams from inception to maturity.

As the Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for orchestrating the cohesive functioning of our engineering endeavors, collaborating closely with cross-functional stakeholders to align our technical roadmap with overarching business objectives. You will leverage your strategic acumen to anticipate market trends and technological advancements, guiding the development of long-term technical strategies and innovative solutions that propel Coalesce to the forefront of the industry.

A typical day in this role will encompass strategic deliberations with executive leadership and engineering teams to formulate and execute scalable growth strategies, as well as operational enhancements aimed at optimizing efficiency and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You will oversee the recruitment and retention of top-tier engineering talent, nurturing a culture of excellence and collaboration that empowers individuals to thrive and innovate.

Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in driving the development of robust operational frameworks and best practices, ensuring seamless execution across all facets of the engineering organization. Your keen eye for operational efficiency will be instrumental in identifying opportunities for process optimization and automation, enabling us to accelerate time-to-market and enhance overall productivity.

Software Engineering @ Coalesce

Our technology stack encompasses Typescript, React, Redux, and Node.js, underpinned by a robust architecture designed to facilitate rapid iteration and innovation. Our engineers are empowered to take ownership of their initiatives, driving end-to-end development from concept to delivery with autonomy and accountability.

The engineering team oversees the maintenance and enhancement of critical components within the Coalesce ecosystem, including the front-end application, back-end infrastructure, CLI tooling, shared modules, and testing infrastructure. Your strategic guidance will be instrumental in shaping the evolution of our technical capabilities and ensuring alignment with our overarching business objectives.

Qualifications

• Proven track record of strategic leadership and operational management within high-growth startup environments.

• Extensive experience in scaling engineering organizations from inception to maturity, with a focus on fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

• Demonstrated ability to align technical roadmaps with business objectives, driving the development of long-term strategic initiatives.

• Strong proficiency in talent acquisition and retention, with a keen eye for identifying and nurturing top-tier engineering talent.

• Expertise in developing and implementing robust operational frameworks and best practices to optimize efficiency and drive continuous improvement.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams towards shared goals.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a passion for innovation and a relentless pursuit of excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in the development of live service, high-uptime web products utilizing React, Redux, Node.js, and Typescript.

Compensation Range: $215K - $270K
