Families Together of Orange County (FTOC) is a rapidly growing Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) located in Tustin, CA looking for a full-time Medical Coder.


FTOC provides an array of services via office-based primary care face-to-face services; primarily telehealth/telemedicine; and mobile medical units in the community. Services provided include dental, mental health, Vision, and Medical including primary care, OBG/YN, Derm, Pediatric, mammogram, physical therapy, and much more. Core Duties and responsibilities, include but are not limited to:


  • Medical Coding: Review patient medical records, including electronic health records (EHR), and accurately assign diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS Level II, and other coding systems as required.
  • Documentation Review: Ensure the medical documentation provided by healthcare providers is complete and supports the assigned codes.
  • Compliance: Stay current with coding guidelines, regulations, and compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, CMS) to ensure accurate and compliant coding practices.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform regular audits to maintain coding accuracy and identify areas for improvement. Collaborate with the billing team and RCM manager to address coding issues and discrepancies.
  • Education and Training: Stay informed about updates and changes in medical coding, attend relevant training programs, and facilitate staff education on coding-related matters.
  • Reporting: Generate reports on coding accuracy, productivity, and any identified coding trends or issues.
  • Reimbursement Optimization: Work closely with billing to optimize reimbursement by ensuring correct coding and documentation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance coding efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:


  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
  • Minimum of 5 years of coding experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding systems.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of healthcare compliance and regulatory guidelines.
