OVERVIEW:

This position is responsible for operating X-ray and fluoroscopic equipment that assists radiologists and/or physicians with diagnosing and/or treating disease and/or injury.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  1. Transport mobile x-ray equipment to Emergency Department or patients room
  2. Transport patient in a safe manner, request assistance as needed
  3. Prepares patient for radiologic procedures
  4. Positions patients and takes X-ray of specific parts of the patient’s body as requested by physicians
  5. Perform procedures according to department protocols

RESPONSIBILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  1. Must be registered with AART holding RT-R and RT-CT.
  2. Protects patient, self, and other staff from radiation hazards
  3. Takes X-Ray following established procedures for patient care and safety, which involves setting up and operating radiographic equipment used in medical diagnosis and /or treatment of patients and includes implementing infection control procedures for the work area.
  4. Selects proper ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis. Adjusts/sets radiographic controls
  5. Develop and process radiological film. Checks X-ray for clarity of image, retaking when needed.
  6. Distributes X-ray to appropriate medical staff.
  7. Maintains required records including patients records, daily logbooks, and monthly reports.
  8. Performs quantity and quality control checks to assure X-ray unit meets standards required by laws, rules, and department policies.
  9. Complies with safety standards.
  10. Cleans, maintains, and make minor adjustments to radiographic equipment, including determining equipment repairs.
  11. Maintains radiographic supplies, films, and orders, as necessary.
  12. Knowledge of X-ray procedures and protocols
  13. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X-ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement
  14. Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology
  15. Identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor
  16. Following infection control and radiological safety procedures
  17. Lift and position patients for the type of X-ray procedure required
  18. Notice detail in drawing and differences in shapes and shading
  19. Read and write instructions, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  20. Performs any other duties that may be necessary for the operation of the corporation and/or hospital
Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be registered with ARRT holding RT-R and RT-CT
  2. Associate degree in radiological technology from accredited Radiologic Technologist program.
  3. High school diploma
  4. One to three years of experience as Radiologic Technologist, preferably in medical practice environment.
  5. American Registry of Radiologic Technologist registration preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Varied activities including standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting
  2. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient’s manual and finger dexterity and eye hand coordination
  3. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time
  4. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 100 pounds
  5. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal ranges
  6. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours
  7. Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a hospital and/or clinic environment
