The Staff Accountant reports to the VP of Finance and will work with the Accounting team to handle day-to-day accounting activities including invoicing, preparing vouchers and payments, researching and resolving customer and vendor requests and discrepancies, and collecting past due amounts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- General Office and Customer Service: answer incoming telephone calls, sort and distribute mail, monitor emails and respond promptly to customer and vendor requests and requests from other departments.
- General Accounting: enter data into accounting system with detailed accuracy and thoroughness, maintain accounting files and records, reconcile credit card statements and sales and use tax transactions, assist with month end close and financial reports, research and resolve customer and vendor discrepancies.
- Accounts Receivable: invoice customers and process credits, receive and reconcile customer payments and prepare deposits, prepare aging reports and handle collections.
- Accounts Payable: enter vouchers, prepare aging reports and payments.
- Assist with special projects as necessary and perform other related duties as assigned by management.
- 2+ years of progressive accounting experience; collections experience preferred.
- Technologically savvy and proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word. Strive for continuous improvement through training and development.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills and demonstrate thoroughness, accuracy, and effective time management.
- Strong math and analytical skills.
- Able to manage and prioritize workflow with a balance of team and individual responsibilities.
- Able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Able to communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing, internally across all company levels and externally to customers and vendors. Manage confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner.
- Strong interpersonal skills focused on respect and conflict resolution. Remain open to other people’s ideas and contribute to a positive team environment.
