Special Education Teacher (K-12)| Alaska- Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Position Overview:
As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in providing specialized instruction, support, and acmodations to students with disabilities across various grade levels. You will collaborate with colleagues, families, and other stakeholders to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every student can succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities, in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects, as well as specialized instruction tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Adapt curriculum materials and instructional strategies to acmodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Use data-driven assessments to monitor student progress, set goals, and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and administrators to ensure that students with disabilities are fully included in the school munity.
- municate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and collaborate on strategies for support.
- Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility determinations, and other special education-related meetings as required.
- Stay current with best practices, research, and trends in special education to continually improve instructional practices and student outes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or related field.
- Valid Alaska teaching license with a Special Education endorsement (K-12).
- Experience working with students with disabilities in a school setting, preferably in a K-12 environment.
- Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong munication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and a mitment to supporting the diverse needs of all students.
- Flexibility and adaptability in meeting the changing needs of students and the school munity.
