SUMMARY

The Trauma Registrar is responsible for the timely and accurate collection, entry, maintenance, and reporting of data for the trauma center as required by the Texas Department of State Health and the American College of Surgeons (ACS). The registrar will code and enter data into the computerized trauma registry, maintaining confidentiality at all times. The Trauma Registry is the foundation of the trauma program and the Trauma Registrar must ensure the validity of data to improve the quality of trauma care.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education

High School diploma.

Required Licenses/Certifications

Certified as Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) within 12 months of hire.
Or minimum of 1 year experience working in an Acute Hospital Registry along with a minimum of 2 years of experience working in a Medical Record Department of an Acute Hospital facility. (preferred)

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Completion of a Medical Terminology course. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with physicians, clinical and ancillary management. Must multitask and prioritize work efficiently. Excellent computer skills. Basic mathematical skills. High degree of integrity, tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality. Professional appearance.
