Overview

The Sr Director, Creative is the primary owner of the strategic brand execution. The Sr Director strategically spearheads the visual aspects of the Sally brand, campaigns and advertising on a monthly level, and partners to read and react to the business. They oversee creative team including directors, managers, digital and store designers, packaging designers, writers and the internal photo studio team. This is a hybrid role, reporting into the office in Denton TX on Tuesdays and Wednesdays of each week, and flexible to report in office more often as needs of the business require.

This role requires brand standards that simplify problems, exceptional communication skills, alignment with your message and mission, speed and go to market excellence, commitment to the consumer journey, strong talent developer, resourcefulness, and strong vision. As well as a passion for our businesses, product and consumer.

The Sr Director oversees the creative process and quality control for all output, constantly seeking new ways to react to data and efficiently go to market strategies and testing without compromising the integrity of the brand and frequently leads the design execution of major initiatives across the private brands business and reacts to business with creative solutions that deliver on the brand standards. Owner of the go to market concepting process and design system development.

Primary Duties:

Pushes for excellence, consistency, strategic vision and can work cross functionally to affect change. Works at the strategic and operational levels, understanding how the “brand comes to life” and providing strategic guidance and coaching to accomplish the task. Can understand consumer data and adjust strategies to support. Contributes to and manages the development and execution of a wide variety of promotional and communications materials.
Looks to continually raise the bar and “elevate the consumers experience” by staying informed of customer-centric trends and behaviors, streamlining processes, and planning improvements. Can successfully manage change while maintaining the brand position
Oversees, evaluates and improves work of all internal creative teams to ensure that projects are on strategy, high quality, effective and technically correct. Leads, mentors, advises and oversees a large creative team. Fosters creative talent among the team. Works closely with our partners to develop omni consumer centric strategies, effectively communicates key priorities and deliverables.
Your responsibilities can also include overseeing the management of the budget for creative studio, hiring employees and contractors, and tracking progress. Some creative services directors manage projects directly and delegate management duties.
Manage a team in all phases of promo creation, template development, design systems for site and email, photography guidelines and brand standards.
Critical partnerships; creative directors of integrated campaigns, consumer analytics’, product dev, crm, social and the integrated marketing team.
Video development and editing for PDP content
Directs industry leading brand content, successfully collaborates with internal creative partners and external agencies. Assigns them work, provides them with creative direction, reviews work and integrates their concepts/work with internal concepts and work. Brings the team and partners along with the brand work for Sally and BSG.
Interface with project stakeholders and project managers to set expectations, manage project timelines, and build good working relationships.
Partners with executive management and partners to ensure creative collaboration, project objectives and brand requirements are met. Leads and executes marketing initiatives while also working cross-functionally with the appropriate teams internally.
Executes with a high degree of consistency, ensuring the omni-ideas talk to the consumer on a meaningful level, in sighting emotion and a behavior, sets clear team and brand goals, builds new concepts and contributes to business initiatives and special projects. Builds talent and celebrates the teams work and contributions.

Knowledge, Skills and Attibutes:

A strong design portfolio, bachelor's degree in communication, design, writing, advertising or related field/experience
At least 10+ years of experience as a designer or copywriter
At least 7+ years of experience leading campaigns and brand building a team effectively
Experience in both mass, traditional, digital, social and e-commerce channels
Responds to data and reacts with creative strategic solutions.
Works cross functionally to develop test and learn creative solutions to grow the ecom business and improve conversion on the sites. Marketplace experience a plus.
Builds brand standards across design systems and photos standards
Governs over the vendor requirements to ensure brand excellence across the pdps at SBH
Strategic thinking ability and creative talent to generate breakthrough ideas
Strong interpersonal and communication skills: highly collaborative and inspiring, with ability to build solid working partnerships across functional groups
Masters’ latest versions of adobe photoshop, adobe illustrator, indesign, mac os, and experience in adobe xd

Working Conditions /Physical Requirements

The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, books, small parts; using a keyboard, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
